DOC alone has a tough battle to achieve sustainable conservation. They do not have enough funding or man power to tackle
the huge dilemmas which face our nations flora and fauna. We believe that joint partnerships between DOC, and private and public
sectors is one of the keys to success. Therefore we created the Marlborough Sounds Wildlife Recovery and Arts Centre. We are
dedicated, motivated and passionate people who are very keen to help ensure New Zealand unique flora and fauna exist for future
generations to enjoy. Our emphasis is on recovery, education, protection and enhancement.
Forming partnerships with local groups such as the local iwi, Port Marlborough and the local council is one of
our keys to success, our goal is to be a link in the chain, not the whole chain. We want to work under the guidance of DOC and to
assist in the common goal, which is protecting our nations unique and amazing flora and fauna. |
